AI QR & Barcode Scanner — an app by Soulix Technologies

Effective date: June 3, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 3, 2026

Your privacy matters. In short: your scan history and settings stay on your device, the camera and location are used only when you actively use a related feature, and the optional AI Vision feature sends an image to Google’s Gemini service only when you choose to analyze it. We never sell your data.

This Privacy Policy explains how Soulix Technologies ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the mobile application AI QR & Barcode Scanner (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your information transparently and in accordance with the Google Play Developer Program Policies and applicable data-protection laws, including the GDPR and CCPA where they apply.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information stored only on your device

  • Scan & generation history. The content of QR codes and barcodes you scan or create (for example URLs, text, Wi-Fi details, contacts, and calendar events) is stored locally on your device so you can view your history. This data is not transmitted to our servers.
  • App settings & preferences. Your in-app settings (such as selected camera, search engine, and feature counters) are stored locally on your device.

1.2 Camera

The App requests camera access to scan QR codes and barcodes in real time and to let you capture or select images for the optional AI Vision feature. The camera is used only while you are actively on a scanning or capture screen. We do not record video or capture images in the background.

1.3 Location

The App requests location access solely to insert your current latitude and longitude when you tap the "My Location" option while creating a location (geo) QR code. Location is accessed only at that moment and only for that purpose. We do not track your location in the background, and we do not store or transmit it to our servers. You may deny this permission and continue to use the rest of the App by entering coordinates manually.

1.4 Images submitted to the AI Vision feature

The App includes an optional AI Vision feature. If you choose to use it, the image you capture or select is processed and sent over a secure (HTTPS) connection to Google’s Gemini API (the Google Generative Language API) for analysis, and the App receives back a description together with any detected codes, text, or objects.

This feature is optional and runs only when you explicitly start an analysis. Google’s handling of data submitted to the Gemini API is governed by Google’s terms and privacy policies, available at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and policies.google.com/privacy. Please do not submit images containing sensitive personal information that you do not wish to share with a third-party AI service.

1.5 Analytics and crash data

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used and to detect and fix crashes. This may include anonymous or pseudonymous information such as a device identifier, device model, operating-system version, app version, general usage events, and crash diagnostics. We also use Firebase Remote Config to manage feature settings. This information is processed by Google as described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

1.6 Advertising

The current version of the App does not display third-party advertisements. If we introduce advertising (for example, Google AdMob) in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, request your consent before serving personalized ads.

1.7 Purchases

If the App offers in-app purchases or a premium upgrade, payments are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details; those are handled by Google in accordance with its policies.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide the App’s core functions: scanning, decoding, and generating QR codes and barcodes.
  • To save and display your local scan and generation history.
  • To provide the optional AI Vision image-analysis feature.
  • To insert your coordinates into a location QR code when you request it.
  • To analyze usage and fix crashes so we can improve the App.
  • To remember your preferences.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases: performance of the service you request (providing App functionality), your consent (for camera, location, and AI Vision, which you may grant or deny), and our legitimate interests (maintaining and improving the App through analytics and crash reporting). You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking the relevant permission in your device settings.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as follows:

  • Google Gemini API — images you submit to the AI Vision feature, for analysis.
  • Google Firebase — analytics and crash-diagnostic data, as described above.
  • Google Play Billing — purchase transactions, if you make a purchase.
  • Legal compliance — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request.

5. Data Retention

Scan history and settings remain on your device until you delete them (you can clear individual items or all history within the App, or by uninstalling the App). Images sent to the AI Vision feature are transmitted for real-time analysis; we do not maintain our own server-side copies. Analytics and crash data are retained by Google according to Firebase’s retention settings.

6. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) transmission for all network requests. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can remove it.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Permissions. You can grant or revoke camera and location access at any time in your device settings.
  • History. You can delete your scan and generation history from within the App.
  • AI Vision. This feature is optional — simply do not use it if you prefer not to send images to Google.
  • Access & deletion. Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.

9. International Data Transfers

The third-party services we use (Google Gemini and Firebase) may process data on servers located in countries other than your own. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards provided by Google.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
